About us:

The province of Our Lady Aparecida, with its provincial center in Canoas, Rio Grande do Sul, was created in 1962 as a second province of the Sisters of Notre Dame in Brazil. The expansion of ministries and the increase of members, in addition to long distances and difficulty of communication, made it necessary to form this second province. Called to deepen the experience of the goodness and provident love of God, we follow Jesus Christ and witness his way of living and relating, sensitive to the suffering of our brothers and sisters, to the hunger for the meaning of life and for the just sharing of the gifts of creation.

Ministries include:

  • Catechesis
  • Communications
  • Education
  • Evangelization
  • Formal and alternative health care
  • Formation for religious life
  • Ministry with the elderly
  • Ministry with abandoned and homeless children
  • Missionary outreach
  • Pastoral ministry/administration
  • Psychological accompaniment
  • Retreat Ministry
  • Social Work
  • Vocation awareness programs
  • Youth ministry
