About us:
The Sisters of Notre Dame of the Chardon province are consecrated women of
prayer, rooted in faith in Jesus Christ, striving to live life deeply and fully
in community and in ministry. We live this way of life, embracing the challenges,
taking risks, living the mystery and inviting the future. Our province was
founded in 1874 when sisters, including our foundress Sister Maria Aloysia, were first sent from Germany to begin a foundation
in Cleveland, Ohio. Subsequently we pioneered foundations in California and
India. Sisters from the Chardon province currently minister in the following
states in the USA: California, Florida, Maryland,
North Carolina, Ohio, Virginia, and Washington
DC, as well as in Italy, Nicaragua, the Philippines, and Tanzania.
