"Jubilee celebrations are like
weddings! Everybody seems so happy!
It must be wonderful to have
25,
50,
or even 70 years
of religious life
behind you. Even
though I'm young,
I know I share in all those years
of service.
The jubilarians give me
courage that I can live out
my commitment as they
did."

As Sisters of Notre Dame, we choose to live together
in community. In community we share our experience of God’s love as
we’ve known it in
the events of our lives. This sharing becomes our support in mission, and
a living witness of unity and communion.
In our communities we try to be
women of warmth, welcome and caring
women united for ministry in Jesus’ name
women on the way to fullness of life
"We are a community that is bound together in love,
opening ourselves to others in simple acts of love, even though they may
seem to us no more than a drop in the ocean, and with a faith so full and
trusting that we know that even in that simple drop, God can do marvelous
and beautiful things in souls that can change lives and transform the world."
Women of warmth, welcome and caring
Our interaction with each other encourages
friendship, fosters personal growth and facilitates faith-sharing. Notre
Dame grew from deep friendships
rooted
in the love of Christ. Our friendships in community—joyful signs and realizations
of God’s love—support us and prepare us for our mission
of loving as Christ did.
Women united for ministry in Jesus’ name
In community God does marvelous and beautiful things that change lives
and transform the world. Open to the diverse personalities and talents
that enrich us, together
we can do greater things and be more effective in building up the kingdom
of God than we could by working alone.

Women on the way to fullness of life
Living in community is not always easy. The challenge of community
living is to balance the circumstances of ministry, personal needs, and
other
obligations
with efforts to create vibrant communities for the sake of mission.
Living in community asks of us
-
the ability to adapt to a shared vision
of mission
-
an aptitude for sharing our hopes, dreams, and fears
-
a willingness to live in various community settings
-
a desire to make our
community a better place for our having been part of it
-
to be builders
of communion and community among those with
whom we live and minister

Community Counts.”
