Farewell to the language students, Rome, Italy

After ten months of intense studying and a lot of sightseeing on the weekends, the second group of students has completed their English language course. Two special highlights have marked this course. In March, they had the privilege of being taught by Sister Mary Kristin for three weeks so that Sr.M.Josefa could participate in the renewal course given by Sr. M. Kathleen Burns. In September, they took part in the Meeting for Young Religious organized by the Vatican. Besides being a spiritual experience and an occasion to get to know young religious from around the world, this meeting also offered the students many occasions to practice their English.

On November 29, the First Sunday of Advent, the students invited Sr. Mary Kristin, Sr. M. Emma and Sr.M.Josefa to a well-prepared vespers to thank God and also them for the good time they had at the motherhouse.  At the end of this moving celebration, Sister Mary Kristin blessed each of the students.

After supper, the students entertained the sisters with a special program in which each of them expressed her gratitude. Then Sister Mary Kristin handed out the well-deserved certificates. Last but not least, the farewell party continued at Villa Giulia, which had been their home for the past ten months!

The sisters of the motherhouse community will miss the joyful and dynamic young sisters, but we also say, “Thank you for your energizing contribution to the motherhouse community. May our good God bless each of you in your future ministries”.
