Gathering Information
Someone making a journey will often stop to consult a guide or a map for
directions, items of interest, or places to rest along the way. This
is a time to take a closer look at possibilities and decide what to focus
on along the way.
Another way to gather information is to talk to someone you meet on the
journey. Being out of the mainstream of your usual life sometimes allows
you to see
more clearly where you have been and where you are heading, and to ascertain
whether you feel called to explore another path. You may want to find
out more about this new direction before you decide to take it.
Many people today are searching for a spirituality that intensifies their
relationship with God. Out of this relationship flows a compassionate
care for others expressed in some type of ministry or outreach. They
desire
community: a shared vision, a commitment to live a life of Gospel values,
and the ability
to share life, ministry and spirituality with a variety of persons.
Religious life can fulfill these desires.
Personal prayer and direction will help you in discerning the direction
of your life. Perhaps God is asking you to consider a religious vocation.
Religious life is one way in which those who are baptized can live
their relationship with God and for others. For Sisters of Notre
Dame, this
path includes vowed life in community, prayer, spirituality and
ministry.
