As Sisters of Notre Dame, we honor Mary with special love and devotion. “Notre
Dame” (French for “Our Lady”) refers to Mary, the mother
of Jesus, who is therefore honored by the Church as Mother of God. Mary’s
courageous and willing response in accepting God’s plan for her life
was born out of a deep and trusting faith in God. Her “yes” was
not a one-time response, but was a continual following of God’s will
in each moment of her life. Even when her life was in danger and her future
uncertain, Mary trusted in God’s goodness and protection. Mary is a model
for our life of total dedication to God. As we respond to God’s tender
love enfolding us always, like Mary, we bring Christ to others.

"Captivated by a deep sense of God’s goodness
and provident care, like Mary our patroness, we say “yes” to
God…yes we will bring the love of Jesus to a world in need, ‘that
all may have life and have it to the full’" (John 10:10).
