First ND Novices in Mozambique and the Philippines Make First Profession
On Sunday, May 23, 2010, our first Notre Dame novices in Mozambique, Sister Maria Cacilda da Conceio Caetano and Sister Maria Lavenesse Jone, made their profession of temporary vows as Sisters of Notre Dame. Sisters from the province of Passo Fundo (Brazil) have staffed our Mozambique mission since its founding in 1993.
Our first Filipina SND, Sister Jean-Marie made her profession of temporary vows on October 1, 2010 in Iloilo, Philippines. Two Filipina postulants, Eddielyn Dimaano (now Sister Maria Tania) and Joan Friolo (now Sister Maria Terez) were accepted into the novitiate on the same day, and will continue their initial formation with the Vietnamese novices in the international novitiate in Bataan, Philippines. October 1, 2010 was also the tenth anniversary of our Philippine mission, which was founded in honor of our foundress, Sister Maria Aloysia on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the Sisters of Notre Dame. In these past ten years, Sisters from the provinces of Pekalongan (Indonesia), Incheon (South Korea), and Chardon, Ohio (USA) have ministered in our mission in the Philippines.
Our congratulations and prayerful support accompanies the sisters in initial formation, their directors, and all who have served in these missions.
