Sister
Mary Amony—Buseesa, Uganda
I met our sisters through Bishop Deogratias Bybazaire of the Hoima
Catholic Diocese in Uganda. The bishop told me about the sisters and their
work in
the diocese and how to contact them. I also read some literature and attended
vocational “come and see” weekends. The weekends gave me the
opportunity to interact with the sisters, and to see their cheerful and
joyful simplicity in ministering to the poor children of the diocese with
much love.
Seeing these qualities radiated in the faces of the sisters attracted me
to this community.
I became a Sister of Notre Dame to serve God and the people of God through
total self-giving in belonging to God alone and being available for ministry.
I love to participate in any kind of activity for the betterment of the
community or society. I truly enjoy teaching children, singing, cooking,
gardening,
visiting the sick and the poor, and spreading the Good News to people
who are desperate.
My novitiate is a time for me to become more and more a good woman disciple
of Jesus. I have grown spiritually through deeper reflection, meditation,
spiritual reading, attending scripture courses, retreats, daily scripture
sharing, and study of the word of God. These things have helped broaden
my prayer life and become a part of me.
My hope lies in becoming a Sister of Notre Dame who is available always
to do the will of God. I pray for God’s grace as I continue to discern
my call and vocation, so that I will be what the Lord wants me to be. I
ask you to pray for me too. May God bless you.
