Sister
Mary Immaculate—Buseesa, Uganda
I met our sisters at St. Julie Convent in Buseesa, Uganda, through my father
who was working there. Since I wanted to become a religious, he told
me about them. This prompted me to visit them and to find out more. When
I
saw what their life was like, I was encouraged to continue to come for
vocation weekends and was later admitted as a candidate.
I became a Sister of Notre Dame to serve God and God’s people more
meaningfully through living a consecrated life. I was attracted by the simplicity
and cheerfulness of the sisters, their love shared in community, and their
dedicated spirit in working with the poor.
During this time of initial formation, I really enjoy the daily scripture
classes and studying the history of our congregation. I have found through
my classes, prayer, and daily reading of scripture that I have been able
to grow spiritually in the knowledge of truth and faith, and have acquired
a deeper understanding of Christ and His mission. I also enjoy singing,
gardening, and using my other skills in many activities that need to be done.
In the future I hope to share with our brothers and sisters what I will
have attained through the course of my initial formation. I also hope to
go on
for further studies to serve the needs of our congregation.
