About us:

The Sisters of Notre Dame from the Kentucky and California provinces started a mission in Uganda, East Africa, in 1995. They began St. Julie Model Primary Boarding School for students in grades 3–7. The students come primarily from the Kibaale ("the forgotten") district. Secondary education was begun in February 2003 and is held at Notre Dame Senior Secondary School. Sisters from Chardon, Ohio, and Mülhausen, Germany, have also served as missionaries, while other sisters and lay volunteers from the United States and Germany come to help for varying lengths of time. In 2002, the first Ugandan women were accepted as candidates for the Sisters of Notre Dame They professed first vows in October 2006.

Ministries include:

  • Education (including teacher training)
  • Formation for religious life
  • Vocation awareness programs
