Sister Maria Adila was the daughter of Attilio Centenaro and Carolina Richotto Centenaro, she has two sisters in our Congregation – Sister Maria Enriqueta and Sister Maria Zenaide Centenaro, both are living now at Casa Betânia.

The biblical verse above is a witness of her life of simplicity, love and selflessness, always ready to serve and to fulfil other sisters’ needs. For 67 years she was a member of the Congregation of the Sisters of Notre Dame. She was an excellent cook and as such has served in several communities: São Paulo, Brasília, Iraí, Tapera, Tapejara, Passo Fundo, Não Me Toque, and Canoas, Ivorá, Taquara.

Sister Maria Adila had a simple, kind and practical spirituality, a sign of God’s Goodness, expression of our carism. She was faithful in participing in community life,  was loved by everybody. During her last ten years she was completely dependent on the help and care of the nurses. We are grateful to our co-sisters in Casa Betânia and their helpers for the love and care they showed towards Sister.

We thank God for her simple life, which is a gift of God to us. We will not forget her smile when she was no longer able to speak.

We hope that Sister Maria Adila will be our intercessor for more religious vocations and that we continue to be faithful to our vocation/mission as Sisters of Notre Dame and that like Mary we remain receptive to God’s tender  love enfolding us always,and like her, bring Christ to others (cf Const. 2).
