The Notre Dame Community of Sister Maria Ignacia of Gorongosa, Mozambique has been very busy since the beginning of the new year as the Sisters took over the administration of the two boarding Houses as well as the school from January 2, 2019 on. The school holidays have been used to make renovations in order to prepare for the return of the boarders which number 186: 96 girls and 90 boys.

When the SNDs started a community in the Gorongosa former mission, the sisters realized that there were many improvements to be made in order to provide a more dignified environment for the boarders. The needs were shared by the bishop of Beira, Rev. Claudio dalla Zuanna who asked the help of Father Piergiorgio Paoletto from the Society of Saint Cajetan of Vicenza, Italy.

Father Piergiorgio negotiated with the Gruppo Missionario Lessinia Occidentale from Italy so that some missionaries could come to Gorongosa to do the more urgent repairs and renovations regarding the boarding schools. From January 11 to February 4, 2019, a group of volunteers of the Gruppo Missionario will be working to transform the old and inactive grain mill into a dining hall, study hall and kitchen for the male boarders. The group is doing an excellent job. May the good and provident God bless us all.
