The excerpt above is the last part of the Divine Mercy prayer from St. Faustina’s prayer, which became a short prayer in Sister Maria Priska’s life.
Djaminem was the youngest of seven children born to Karsawijaya and Suginem in Srikayangan. Her parents were simple farmers and devout Muslims who passed on their experience of God’s love to their children. Djaminem grew up with her older siblings in Yogyakarta. At the age of 13, Djaminem was baptized at the Blessed Virgin Mary of Wates Parish and given the name Margaretha Maria.
After receiving the sacrament of Confirmation on August 20, 1953, Margaretha Maria was inspired to be a religious sister and join our congregation in Pekalongan. On her investment January 6, 1962, she received the religious name, Sister Maria Priska.
Sister Maria Priska made her first vows on January 4, 1964, and her final vows on January 3, 1969. She carried out her mission in the fields of education and pastoral care. In education, Sister ministered in kindergartens in Pekalongan, Rembang, Sukorejo, and Purbalingga. In the pastoral ministries, Sister assisted the parish, preparing catechumens and communion services for the elderly and the sick. She was devoted to Mary and Jesus, and she was known throughout her life for being calm, faithful, patient, passionate, attentive, hardworking, and responsible.
Sister spent her retirement serving in the Mejasem-Tegal and Mlati-Yogyakarta communities. As she grew older, she moved to Wisma Hana, a community of elderly sisters in Pekalongan. Her primary ministry was a prayer ministry for the SND World Apostolate, and she took care of the plants.
In early March 2024, Sister’s health began to decline, and she was admitted to Budi Rahayu Hospital. Remembering her brief prayer, “Jesus, I trust in you,” she peacefully entrusted her life to the loving hands of the Father before midnight on March 21, 2024.
May Sister Maria Priska experience eternal happiness with our good God.
