Bishop John Stowe, OFM Conv. visited the Motherhouse on of September 10, 2015. The Bishop is in Rome for the orientation program presented by the Vatican for all new bishops.  Bishop Stowe was ordained as the third Bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Lexington, Kentucky on May 5, 2015.

He is no stranger to the Sisters of Notre Dame having been taught by our sisters at Lorain Catholic High School in Cleveland and most recently came to know our sisters in Toledo while serving as the Vicar Provincial of the St. Louis Conventional Franciscans and Pastor/Rector of the National Shrine of Our Lady of Consolation in Carey, Ohio. On March 12, 2015, Pope Francis named him Bishop of Lexington where he has come to know our sisters from the Covington Province ministering at St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead, Kentucky.

The Bishop joined the Motherhouse community for evening Mass followed by supper.  He saw the young face of Notre Dame when Sr. Kristin introduced the 18 sister participants in the Vatican Program who were with us. Of the nineteen countries in which we minister, 11 of those countries were represented at the meal.  Bishop Stowe not only saw the young face of Notre Dame, he also met that evening our international community.
