Sister Nicole Marie Varnerin celebrated her first profession of vows as a Sister of Notre Dame on Saturday, February 24, 2018, at Notre Dame Provincial Center, Chardon, Ohio.

Father Donald Oleksiak, was the main celebrant at the Liturgy. Sister Nicole Marie’s family, friends, and many sisters were in attendance.

Sister Nicole Marie is the daughter of Bruce and Debbie Varnerin of Ridgefield, Connecticut. As an electrical engineer Sister Nicole Marie did research with stroke and spinal cord injury patients at the Cleveland Clinic. Through her involvement with other young adults in social justice experiences in Cleveland, Nicole decided to move into Cuvilly House, a discernment house operated by the Sisters of Notre. There she hoped to find community support during the discernment of her vocation. Soon she discovered God’s call to the Sisters of Notre Dame.

For the past two and a half years, Sister Nicole Marie has been a part of the SND-USA National Novitiate in Covington, Kentucky, under the direction of Sister Marla Monahan and Sister Mary Rose Moser. When in the National Novitiate, she took courses in theology at Xavier University and volunteered for the Greater Cincinnati Homeless Coalition and in the Health Care Center at the Covington Provincial Center. Sister had many experiences working with immigrants on the US-Mexico border.

Beginning in March 2018, she started ministry at Cleveland Central Catholic High School in Attendance and Math Intervention.
